The pupils from 4th/5th/6th class and Seomra na Réaltaí went on a walkability audit with Caitríona Cunningham, the Green Schools Travel officer. The walkability audit aimed to investigate safe routes to walk, scoot or cycle to school. The students discussed potential hazards along the way such as broken footpaths, etc. The group also identified places to park along the route to encourage students and staff members to park and stride. This walkability audit was carried out as part of the school’s work on this year’s Green Flag theme ‘Global Citizenship Travel’ which aims to explore how local actions regarding travel can positively influence the environment.
