STEPS Young Engineers Award 2022/2023
Both 3rd and 4th classes engaged with the STEPS Young Engineers Award from September to December 2022. The STEPS Young Engineers Award encourages 3rd and 4th class pupils and their teachers to explore the world of engineering by developing an engineering project that would help improve their local community.
Walkability Audit
The pupils from 4th/5th/6th class and Seomra na Réaltaí went on a walkability audit with Caitríona Cunningham, the Green Schools Travel officer. The walkability audit aimed to investigate safe routes to walk, scoot or cycle to school. Think Sustainability Award Winners
The students in 4th/5th/6th class entered the Think Sustainability Awards sponsored by Athenry Credit Union. The students made an excellent presentation to the adjudicators about Sustainability initiatives in the school such as The School Pollinator Plan and sustainable gardening. The students won second prize of €250 for the school.
Spring Clean
The students in fourth, fifth and sixth class took part in a litter pick in June and were happy to discover there was a very low level of litter discovered on school grounds.
School Tour 2022
The students from 2nd to 6th class went on their school tour to Adventure World in the University of Limerick on Wednesday 8th June 2022. Activities on the day included: Swimming, Inflatable Water Slide, Last Man Standing, Disco Dome, Dash and Grab, Giant Obstacle Course, Unihoc and Wrecking Ball.
Oral Presentations
The pupils in fourth, fifth and sixth class researched projects on a range of topics and made presentations to their class.
